Town Meeting Member · Precinct 8 · Belmont, MA
Strong schools. Affordable Belmont. A government that listens. Re-elected to continue building on real progress for Precinct 8 and the town we share.
I've been proud to serve as your Town Meeting Member since first being elected, representing our corner of Belmont at Town Meeting and beyond. This spring, Precinct 8 sent me back for another term — and I don't take that trust lightly.
My focus remains the same: strong schools, a government that's efficient and responsive, and a Belmont that stays affordable and welcoming for everyone. From reforming town finances to my work on the Conservation Commission, the goal is always tangible progress for real people.
Cutting red tape for new businesses and home renovations — maximizing growth revenues and reducing the burden on town staff and residents alike.
Pursuing tax relief programs and reassessments to shift burdens toward those most able to pay, protecting working families and long-time residents.
Increasing the efficiency of town services to reduce costs and improve quality — because good government should work as hard as the people it serves.
Working to improve competition in the housing and commercial real estate markets to keep Belmont welcoming for new families and long-time neighbors.
In 2023, Angus filed an article to finally address a thirteen-year-old recommendation to unify the Town's Finance Team and bring accountability to the Board of Assessors. Through his advocacy, this measure passed Town Meeting and at the ballot box. With fresh leadership, the Board of Assessors identified $600,000 to be returned to the town to support conservation and recreation projects.
Angus was appointed to the Belmont Conservation Commission in July 2024. He is working to permanently protect Rock Meadow, advocate for clearer permitting standards, and protect accessibility across Belmont's conservation lands.
